02 · Intermodal transport – Containers
Your container visible at every stage of the journey
For weeks a container passes through the hands of shipping lines, terminals, rail operators and hauliers – usually without power and often without coverage. Standalone trackers and sensors show where it is, whether it was opened and in what conditions the cargo travels.
Challenges
What companies face every day
A container has no power of its own, and at sea or in remote terminals there is no cellular network. Most wired devices are ruled out.
Data is scattered across many carriers and terminals. It is hard to tell where the cargo is and when it will really arrive.
Theft and cargo tampering only come to light at the consignee, when it is too late to establish where it happened.
Containers stuck in the wrong place generate demurrage charges and force you to rent extra units.
Solution
How standalone wireless transmitters solve it
Container trackers (Tetis on the door hinge, AT410 and Kylos with a magnet) need no wiring or tools and can be moved between containers.
Solar trackers and seals (SolarX, SolarGuardX, T-100) top themselves up – a container can be monitored for years without service.
Iridium takes over where the cellular network ends – e.g. the AT10G seal. Events without coverage are stored in memory.
Door, light, temperature, humidity and shock sensors alert the moment something happens and build a report of the whole journey.
Benefits
What you gain
Financial
- Fewer losses, faster claims – proof of where and when an event happened shortens disputes with carriers and insurers.
- Lower demurrage – you know where a container stands and act before charges start to accrue.
- Better fleet rotation – fewer lost units and less renting of extra containers.
- No installation costs – no power, no wiring, no service on every voyage.
Operational
- Door-to-door visibility – port, vessel, rail and last mile in one route history.
- Live opening alerts – a response the moment it happens, not after unloading.
- Planned collections – real location instead of a declared ETA.
- Reports for the customer – temperature, humidity and shocks for the whole journey.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I track a container that has no power?
Battery or solar container trackers (e.g. Tetis, AT410, SolarX 130) run for months without charging and report their position over 4G or LTE-M / NB-IoT.
What happens when the container is at sea without network coverage?
The devices store positions and events in memory and send them once coverage returns. Where connectivity is needed everywhere, devices with an Iridium satellite modem are used, e.g. the AT10G seal.
Will I detect an unauthorised opening of the container doors?
Yes. Door-mounted trackers (e.g. Tetis) and electronic seals send an opening alarm, while light sensors and the accelerometer detect tampering and shocks.
Can I monitor cargo temperature and humidity?
Yes. Many trackers have built-in temperature and humidity sensors, and additional BLE sensors (e.g. TSTH1-B) send readings wirelessly.
How is a tracker mounted on a container?
In minutes and without cables: on the door hinge, with magnets, screws or high-strength tape – with no changes to the container structure.
How do I get a quote?
The fastest way is the contact form with the enquiry builder or by phone: +48 660 707 535. The quote depends on the number of assets, the type of devices and the data transmission – a Starcont advisor will match the solution and prepare an offer.
Let’s talk about your case
We will select devices, prepare a quote and help with the rollout – also as a service, without investing in hardware.
