01 · Road transport – Semi-trailers and trailers
Your trailer under control – even without a tractor or power
Wireless transmitters and BLE sensors installed in minutes show where every trailer is, when its doors were opened and what temperature the cargo is at. No wiring, no downtime and no interference with the vehicle’s electrics.
Challenges
What companies face every day
Car parks and stops are where most thefts happen. Without sensors nobody knows when or where the doors were opened – it only comes to light at unloading.
Once uncoupled, a trailer has no power, so a classic hard-wired tracker goes silent. Trailers “disappear” in yards, terminals and at customers’ sites.
A temperature excursion detected only at the consignee means a claim, lost goods and a dispute over who is liable.
Wiring means downtime in the workshop – and for rented or rotating trailers it simply does not pay off.
Solution
How standalone wireless transmitters solve it
A battery tracker (e.g. Kylos M – up to 5 years) or a solar one (SolarX) works independently of the tractor and reports position even when parked.
Door, temperature and humidity sensors (TSDT1-B, TSTH1-B, T-Sense) send data via Bluetooth to the tracker. Batteries last for years – up to 6–8 years according to the manufacturer.
A GPS seal on the doors alerts on opening and cable cutting and logs every event with place and time – ready evidence for the customer and insurer.
Position, openings, temperature and SMS or e-mail alerts in one application – in the browser and on your phone.
Benefits
What you gain
Financial
- Fewer losses – an alert the moment doors open instead of discovering theft at unloading.
- Zero wiring costs – installation without a workshop or trailer downtime – devices can be moved between trailers.
- Better fleet utilisation – no more searching yards for trailers and no unnecessary empty runs.
- A stronger position in claims – temperature and opening logs as evidence for the customer and insurer.
Operational
- You know where every trailer is – even uncoupled and without power.
- Real-time alerts – door opening, temperature excursion, leaving a zone.
- Reports for the customer – route and temperature history to send with one click.
- Fast rollout – mounting with adhesive, magnet or screws in minutes.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does the tracker work when the trailer is uncoupled from the tractor?
Yes. Standalone battery or solar trackers (e.g. SolarX, TLP1-SF) and hardwired trackers with a backup battery (e.g. TLW2-12B) keep reporting their position without power from the tractor.
How can I monitor door openings and temperature in a reefer trailer?
Wireless BLE sensors (e.g. TSDT1-B, T-Sense) mounted at the doors send the door state and temperature to the tracker. No cables are needed and the sensor battery lasts for years.
How is an electronic seal different from a conventional seal?
A conventional seal only reveals tampering when the cargo is received. An electronic GPS seal reports opening, cable cutting and position in real time and records every event in the platform history.
Does installation require changes to the vehicle wiring?
Not for standalone devices – they are mounted in minutes with magnets, screws or tape. Hardwired trackers are connected to vehicle power when extra functions are needed, such as CAN bus data or remote immobilisation.
Where can I see the device data?
On an online platform and in a mobile app, e.g. the Starcont Platform, TFT Monitor or Plusfleet. A Starcont advisor will match the platform to your devices and fleet.
How do I get a quote?
The fastest way is the contact form with the enquiry builder or by phone: +48 660 707 535. The quote depends on the number of assets, the type of devices and the data transmission – a Starcont advisor will match the solution and prepare an offer.
Let’s talk about your case
We will select devices, prepare a quote and help with the rollout – also as a service, without investing in hardware.
